You have to use the left side USB-C port. It's connected directly to the Nvidia GPU. The one on the right is just a USB connection with a type-C shaped port. That monitor won't charge the laptop via USB-C. That only happens if you're using a hub or docking station that has power delivery. RememberNobleGaming.
From the documentation, this system appears to have both a USB 3.x port AND two Thunderbolt ports -- you need to use one of the latter to connect to a monitor. The USB 3.x ports are not set up for video -- the Thunderbolt ports are. You also need a Thunderbolt cable (should have the lightning symbol on it). K.
In the Windows search field, enter and look up! Click OPEN! Remove the USB Root Hub driver, the arrow next to “Universal Serial Bus controllers” should be checked! Next, choose “USB Root Hub” from the menu! Then choose “Uninstall device” and click UNINSTALL! Restart the computer!
On next screen identify the active Power plan and click Change Plan Settings. On next screen, click Change Advanced Power Settings. On that last screen, disable Hibernation, Hybrid Sleep, USB Selective Suspend, and PCI Express Link State Management. Save the changes to the Power plan on each PC and then reboot.
Ensure that the Dell Thunderbolt Docking Station WD22TB4 is connected properly to its adapter (180 W). Ensure that the cable LED of your docking station is ON. Disconnect and then reconnect the USB-C cable to your laptop. Peripherals connected to the docking station do not work in a pre-OPERATING SYSTEM environment.
On the Playback tab, double-click on your LG monitor and click on the Levels tab. First, see if the volume icon has a No symbol. Adjust the slider to disable mute and change the volume. If the sound is coming out from only one side, click on the Balance button. Set the L and R values to equal and press OK.
I know that it has a USB-C port that displays video but I'm usually using a HDMI dongle that I have for the MacBook. The problem is, the USB ports that were supposedly made to connect keyboards and mouses are not working. I plug the computer via the dongle to the macbook but when I hit a keyboard via the USB port of the monitor, nothing happens.
It has a specific usb port you have to connect to your computer in order for the USB hub to be seen by the computer. Yeah, I think I missed the step. It is easy to do. Took me a bit to figure this monitor out. You have to connect the monitor to one of your laptops' usb ports through a cable that looks like the one linked below.
I have a brand new LG 27UK850-w Monitor and have it connected via HDMI to my PC but the USB hub on the back of my my monitor is not working. Stuff that is plugged in there won't get power or show up on my desktop like for example a USB stick. When I connect my MBP via USB-C however the ports are working without any problem.
For what its worth you would experience similar issues if it were Dell USB C docks. The problem is that the Startech docks use DisplayLink chipsets, and you need the drivers for the video to function properly. Displayport video signals will pass right through them, but dvi, vga, and HDMI do not.
